Sherlock Homo

Professional stud and former relapse specialist Robert Downey Jr. alluded to allusions of a possible gay affair between Holmes and Watson in the potential sequel to Sherlock Holmes while promoting the film on "David Letterman." It's sad how we'll grasp at straws but with so little representation of GLBT lead characters in big budget movies we're thrilled to hear this.

One person not thrilled to hear it is Andrea Plunket who stated.....Plunket? Seriously? Plunket. Hmm, pretty. Anyway, Ms. Plunket stated “I hope this is just an example of Mr. Downey’s black sense of humour." I'm assuming she actually said humor with the U since she's probably British. "It would be drastic, but I would withdraw permission for more films tobe made if they feel that is a theme they wish to bring out in the future. I am not hostile to homosexuals, but I am to anyone who is not true to the spirit of the books,”

Of course the spirit of the books was captured in multiple past incarnations, from animated Holmes and Watson as mice in The Great Mouse Detective, to the bumbling Holmes and astute Watson in Without a Clue starring Michael Caine. Of course all of them were heterosexuals. It seems the only thing crossing the line would be making the characters gay.
