Fozzie Vs. Bill O'Reilly: This time he can't interrupt
In response to this defeatist article written by Bill O'Reilly I posted this note. I doubt he will ever see it but it feels good to denounce the king of all bigotry for his lies and hatred. "However, I understand that most Americans believe heterosexual marriage deserves a special place in our society...." - raising one group over another is the definition of bigotry.
"Our Judeo-Christian traditions, which have made the United States the most prosperous and just society the world has ever known, speak to a family built around a responsible mother and father; certainly the optimum when it comes to raising children." - Seeing yourself as the most anything above another group which you see as less is, again, bigotry. Due to your intense opposition regarding marriage equality I doubt that you have many gay friends and have therefore not met many children raised by same-sex couples. The studies cited in many of these articles espousing "more well adjusted children" are based on studies of single parents vs. dual parents, not same sex parents vs. opposite sex parents.
Please think about the endgame in regard to such bigoted speech. Gay couples are going to continue to flourish, and with so many states headed toward marriage equality the call for equal protection under the law will not go away. Many years ago there was intense opposition to the idea of civil unions from bigots, but now that seems like such a viable fall-back for this same group, you included. Separate is not equal and until you realize such and write articles calling for equality instead of lauding your sexuality over another, then you will be a bigot. I know bigot is a harmful and hateful word, but at least it is the truth. Whereas I am not a turtle-lover.
